Oh wow… I have just stumbled across the German Vogue 2012Swarovski Horoscope calendar, and I MUST have it. Bejewelled and simply to diefor, this calendar is all but a dream. Sweet dreams of Tree houses…

I had the most beautiful dream last night, it upset me towake up from it. It was the kind of dream so was semi surreal, made me feelwarm inside and I was very much in a ‘happy place’.

I’m not sure if it came after spending a day with my belovednana and family, whether it is the Christmas spirit infiltrating my semi-consciencestate or perhaps even my childhood love of cubbies and tree houses, one thing’sfor sure- I hope I dream about it again tonight!

I dreamt that I was my younger self and was going to visitmy nana. All of my cousins were meeting me there and when I arrived- nana livedin this decadent tree house. Not a normal one (we are in a dream remember!) butone that was white and had walls from lace! When I climbed up the ladder to getinto the tree house it was so much bigger than what it looked like on theoutside and nana was living in a cave of the most beautiful scarves and belts(I’m not sure why my subconscious picked scarves and belts!). All the sunshinewas pouring in the cut outs from the lace and it was all very ethereal.

My absolute favourite part of the dream was when I asked mynana why she lived in a tree house and she replied ‘Well why shouldn’t I livein a tree house?’…..

Yesterday was M-A-N-I-C!!!! Do much running around to do- I swear we covered the whole of LA! There was 9:30pm Skype calls back to Sydney HQ - we were exhausted! So after all of this- we headed pool side for a late dinner and to seriously- 'defry' after a days work. And why not relax in this poolside, candle lit, ultra luxurious environment- and that we did. Can I just say- I WILL have one I these lit up 'fairy trees' in my own back yard (hello Aussie!) one day!

I have just found my new hearts desire. Loving these 'urbanesque' warehouse looking deconstructed lights-sitting alongside divine fairy lights. Having grown up dreaming of fairy lights- once even having asked my uncle to instal a faux ceiling in my bedroom (without my parents knowledge) so you couldn't see the wires- I've come a long way!

I LOVE coming across beautiful little home ware stores- like love- complete treasure troves! I came across one today in nearby Randwick. I felt like I was magnetically drawn to this 'newfound' delight only to be told they had been open 6 years! (????) what- you mean open here- in this exact shop!?... Apparently...
So in I go and ahhhhhhh (insert religious-like-cult-like music with golden beams here!)
Coasters- hey with a new coffee table one needs plenty of coasters (right!?) vases (for the millions of blooms I receive- daily!) scatter cushions (the fifty on my bed clearly aren't enough!).... Seriously this store was full of delectable, original must haves!

I live my life by this woman. A gypsy goes a camping!

In celebration of my newly booked christmas break this year (a friend and I have booked a south coast campsite as our ideal getaway from reality to get back to our gypsy roots!) I have decided to do a little investigation into camping- gypsy style.
It seems the pre-requistes for such camping expeditions are fairy lights, candles, cushions, throw rugs oh and did I mention fairy lights?
We began the arduous task today of collating a list of things we will need, straight up, esky/wine/cheese/banana chairs.... when it dawned, what about the important things- like fairy lights!?
I mean- you cannot go camping with electrical fairy lights- where would you plug them in? So now we will have to find battery operated fairy lights. Candles- scented or should we enjoy the natural beachside in it natural glory?! There is just so many decisons and preparations a gypsy journey doth make!
So here is a few pics I thought could help in the planning process.
I'll touch base in a few weeks for an update. My last camping expedition was quite an 'affair' but I'll save that for another time. For now- off to make my wish list and check it twice- happy camping!

WHERE HAVE I BEEN THOU ASKS?!

WOW- where on earth have I been!? you may well ask although our FB gets constantly updated so we haven't gone totally MIA, but seriously, my last post on here was way back when!
Let me fill you in on whats been happening...
We've moved into a new office space, exciting much! we still have our sunny beachside studio but for all things corporate and the daily grind, the city is for us (cannot get enough of my Harbour Bridge view!). I'm still sitting here now!
I was in LA then Mexico, then back to LA (more on that later!)
What I really want to share is my amazing time in Mexico- so much so planning a return soiree next year!
Staying at this amazing resort, beach side, felt like I was in the Taj Mahal!!
The weather was gorg, the people were as friendly as they come, the cocktails were too many to remember (as were the shots poolside of course!) and the food- not even sure where to begin!
Crazy enough we ran into quite a few aussies that we actually knew over there, on a cruise one afternoon of all places!
What I love about holidays- everyone is there to have fun! everyone is happy! Our happy blissful time began with a cocktail on arrival (at the airport- not the hotel!) followed by a hilarious transfer via mini bus with the craziest mix of people I have ever come across. Stopping for Coronas curb side, witnessing a arrest military style all before hitting above said Taj Mahal!
Partaking in all things tourist I was up in the air parasailing before I knew it! Only to reclaim my posse poolside, or shall I say 'in' the pool wherupon a permanent beachchair is installed!
All I can say is, if anyone ever gets the chance, get your little summer-lovin-butts to Mexico/ Cabo. You will have yourself a treat of a time, the photos do NOT do it justice, truly, bliss.

GARDEN PARTIES IN LOVELY LA

A 'simple' LA get together does not mean 'Aussie BBQ!'.... dress code... where to start!
Last night we went to a beautiful garden soiree in the hills, at our LA office (which is one of the most divine places-ever- and previously owned by Valentino). A garden party here is nothing without catering, cocktails, waiters and the above amazing house framing the whole affair!. Arriving in the LA sunshine, we partied (quietly as is garden style) until dark. Skinny girl Margarittas flowing, my FAVOURITE food of all time, cheese (platter on top of platter!) fruit, divine seafood (not that I eat it but I can appreciate it!) and amazing company.
My time in LA has been sparkling with amazing company especially last night, to be joined by Mr M.
The girls that chose heels faced the time old problem of them sinking into the lawn. Those of us who had seen a little sun throughout the day were a little chilled when the sun set. Overall, typical LA style, it was an affair that did not let anything stand in the way of 'garden' appropriate fashion and a fabulous time was had by all!...

MANHATTAN DAYZE

What an absolutely beautifully, gorgeous, blissful day... After sitting in LA traffic, we finally found ourselves at Manhattan Beach. 'Amazing' doesn't even come close! This little slice of paradise is a sprawling beach fronted by the most gorgeous individual beach houses, like right on the beach!! With a broken foot (looking back the beach really wasn't the cleverest option) I dragged myself down from the promenade onto the softest sand.
Lounging in my crochet for a bit I soon could not help but strip down to my bikini (LKSW) and just feel the sun on my Sydney Winter bitten skin- ahhhhhhhh sun kissed.
Our new friends took us back up to their beach pad where we had a 'Californian' style BBQ! The people here are sooooo nice! So we're eating big fat corn on the cobb, hamburgers with all the juice and mustard slipping down our arms sitting on a gorgeous patio looking down the hill back toward the beach! Then they tell us to come back! I mean, they did love our australian accents as we chatted on you could literally see them trying to understand us but hey, fabulous company, great food, beautiful sunshine- perfect Manhattan Dayze!...

PAINTING WITH PARVEZ...

A LA experience, where else would you end up in a beautiful 'loft' totally open to the elements overlooking the Chateau Marmont painting your own artwork with a talented Artist? Firstly, painting with Parvez took place in his home, studio which was one of the most amazing homes I have ever been to. In lieu of a tv, Parvez had no front walls and literally you could reach out and touch the trees (which were strewn with some amazing artwork pieces). No lights, it took us around 5 minnutes to light every candle we could find, possibly into the hundreds and lit up all the light boxes, put on some tunes. Parvez has a completely fabulous outlook on life and loved hearing how we loved our jobs, I mean, how could he not love his too!
Parvez ended up supplying us with canvases, paints and implements to 'create' our art. We took this very seriously as you can see from the attached (I still have to go back and pour my blue wash over mine- it was very important I do this at the time!)
I came away from this experience with some beautiful hand signed pieces of Parvez's art, which I will always treasure, but more so than that, I came away with one of my most memorable nights in LA ever! Having found another kindred spirit!!!!

An exciting year with the Kardashians

Through Jupi and Bruno Schiavi I have been working closely with the girls on their upcoming 'KARDASHIAN KOLLECTION' namely the lingerie component. Last year I took a memorable trip to NYC. I can safely say it is one of my most favourite places on earth! Big call for a little girl from a little town hanging out in the big smoke!

From decadent nights in roof top bars with divine decor. Amazing sunsets over a city that never sleeps. A pitstop past 'Carries' doorstep. Leaving 100 thousand footsteps as I pounded the pavements in pure shopping bliss. One little memory has stood out... On a visit to Victorias Secret I came across none other than a greyhound (yes- a greyhound) in the store. Now, if the look on this chumps face does not tell you men don't like shopping and neither do I, then you can at least laugh 'only in NYC'...

Thanks mumma for the late night phone call last night alerting me to the fact that there is a 'special' on Annie Leibovitz tonight on the Australian ABC.

After recently having the honour of working with the creative genius, I have been making myself more familiar with her broad range of work and to be honest, glad I didn't know everything I know now when I met her. I feel a mild case of stage fright and fan-omania may have struck me.

Yes, I was aware of how amazing and talented she is, what I didn't realise was, this woman is walking history and sometimes even more, history in the making!

From shooting Demi Moore pregnant and nude for Vanity Fair she also shot John Lennon and Yoko Ono, on the day he died.

I can't wait to watch the documentary tonight, 9:55pm tonight AEST on the AB

TO EXTEND... OR NOT TO EXTEND

One of the biggest decisions in my life (whoa me, get out the violin!) is whether or not to go down the track of hair extensions.

There is so many facets to this decision, thus I have swayed from yes to no over the past few years (wow!)...

So, I LOVE big hair, love it. Any photo shoot I do I am sitting by the hair artist saying BIGGER, BIGGER, BIGGER. I don't care if slick hair is in fashion, I'm always the one saying 'make it bounce!'. I sit and watch as hair piece after hair piece is attached to said models hair until she is literally swaying under the weight of it, only then am I happy!

When it comes to my own hair, I am constantly experimenting with products, my two favs thus far, Tigi and Aveda. These babies literally cement that hair on the vertical!

But are they enough? Or... would extensions help?

On any given day I can have varying opinions on this and change my mind as often as I do my lipcolour!

At this point in time, I am oh-so-natural with my own maine of locks but given the chance, I can see me weaving it up!

I'm going to look back on this blog in a few weeks with a set decision in mind, only to change it the next day. But for now, I am going to have to settle with these images and my hairdryer I think!

SPLENDID NIGHTS IN NYC

Ahhhh, memories!

As I sit here now gazing over my unused courtyard- come the winter months... and my mind wanders to a time last year, at the height of a NYC summer.

After a few days of marathon shopping, I had a night of solitude, just me and my wine on my roof top, and how spectacular it was!

Hues of orange, red and amber striped the sky and my photos do not do it justice. It was most gorgeous and far more beautiful than the above (and I swear that is not the wine fuelled memories talking!)

Do heart Summer, do heart amazing sunsets, do heart a good wine, do heart a good roof top and most of all, do heart NYC! Perfection!

My office whilst in San Fran. Hardly a terrible view or set up I must say. Music, freshly squeezed juice and THAT view from ceiling to floor, its hardly any wonder I wanted to get up andstart typing today! Must enjoy however, its back to Sydney soon. It has been a terribly hard trip as you can see! When I get back to Sydney hoping for a bit of time to post the rest of my pics from my time here, its been one big whirlwind!!

SPRUCING UP IN A SUV

WOW!- travelling today via convoy in my own SUV. How uber faux celebrity! Seriously, arriving on set to Santa Monica pier ala stealth was completely LA. I of course had time to prepare in my lone voyage from downtown to Santa Monica Beach for a true fashionable arrival, sandside. A few cosmetic touch ups, a pair of nude heels and my new Dior shades and I was completely in my element!

Upon arrival I was shown to my trailer (ok- it wasn't mine but lets let it slide for story sake!) then escorted by dune buggy to the studio set up. All in all a fairly glamourous arrival, police escort and an experience I won't forget anytime soon!

TO CHANEL OR NOT TO??

OK- so usually when I come on these trips I spend ALOT of money. I feel justified in doing so because I work so hard and enjoy my trips and the opportunity to find amazing pieces you don't find in Aus! But this time- working from darkness to darkness I haven't really had time to hit the retail trail. This being said.... I am thinking (and slightly coveting) a black chanel bag. I found a beautiful Henry Bendel bag but am thinking maybe I purchase a divine investment piece?

So, these are my thoughts out loud- or written down as I sit here at our TEEN VOGUE shoot and pretend the gorgeous LV bag is mine. Fashion is about dreaming but since when can't dreams become reality??

SUBSTANANCE FOR FASHION

One word- CATERING!

This in so many words has been my saviour over the past few days with beautiful gourmet food delivered morning, noon and night on set. Up until today there has been an 'array' of chocolate, biscuits, chips etc but today, well, today was something else. I can see how people can work these 16 hour days when you have people coming around handing out shots of multivitamins, vitamin C etc. I mean literally, trays of these are being passed around and everyone is knocking them back! The first photo above you can see the variety available at the catering stand. Don't be fooled peeps, what you see there is pure vitamin C powder everyone was pumping in their drinks! Alongside is the capsule offering for a 'quicker' hit of energy. So very Hollywood and also tells me how it is possible to stay so skinny in LA! If I had to work days like this everyday you'd find me camped out by the m&m's day in day out but if you have a shot of multi V, I could probably live there!

A SQUIRREL ON SET...

I kid you not, this was my little friend on set filming today! At the gorgeous Raleigh Studios in Manhattan Beach I came across this furry little guy who had a penchant for Almonds! As he continued to eat them out of my hand he got a little excited and accidentally nibbled on my finger, not hurting or drawing blood what-so-ever... I even continued to return with more nuts for my little furry friend. However- by the end of the day, the story had grown, somewhat astronomically and I started to hear people talking about the 'squirrel attack'!!! 'Poor girl'- said girl being me! This little guy better watch out, he could find himself becoming a piece of fashion if he doesn't watch out!

Recently I had the luxury of reading 'Water For Elephants' the absolutely divine cover I have attached above. Can I just say- as someone who adores vintage fashion and loves looking at timeless photos of my nana in her hey day, this book and the subsequent movie were an absolute delight!

Costume designer Jacqueline West has truly outdone herself with beautiful renditions of a bygone era. I could only sit in awe (and girl envy!) and wonder what the hell was I doing watching the movie in jeans when I should be dressed as a lady! My modern take on Marlena's wardrobe for everyday fashion is a splash of red lips. My current winter favourite being a deeper shade by Mac 'Ruby-Woo'...And somehow- I don't think I'll be the only one sporting this luxe vintage look- who, after all, does not want to look like a lady?

I got sent this in an email the other day and it really struck a chord with me... I thought it was something worth sharing with the world, to get you thinking over the weekend

Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about eleven (11) things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1 : Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2 : The world doesn't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss

Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: They called it opportunity.

Rule 6 : If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were . So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room..

Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. *This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. *Do that on your own time.

Rule 10 : Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11 : Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one..

So much of what he says rings so true! And he must be onto something, after all he is one of the most successful business people in the world! X
